1. Rain at the Window
I am in my room after a short walk. The sky is grey. I want to walk with my brother later. We want to eat lunch in the park. But there is rain on the window. The street outside is wet.
My brother comes into my room. He has a bag with two sandwiches. We look outside together. There is water on the path. The rain is strong now. We decide to eat our lunch at home.
I go to the door. My yellow coat is on a hook. My blue shoes are on the mat. The shoes are wet from my short walk this morning. There is a little water under them. I leave them on the mat.
The coat is wet too. I hang it over the mat to dry. I put on my dry indoor shoes. They are warm and soft. My brother takes off his coat. He hangs it on the next hook, away from the wall.
2. A Clean Room
We have some time before lunch. My room needs cleaning. There are books on the floor. There is a shirt on my chair. I want to sit on that chair later. First, I put the books on the shelf.
My brother helps with the table. He takes the empty cups to the kitchen. I put my clean shirt in the cupboard. My dirty shirt goes into the wash basket. Now we can see the chair and the top of the table.
There is water under the window. I look up and see a small gap. The window is a little open. Rain is coming through the gap. I close the window. My brother brings a cloth from the kitchen to wipe up the water.
We dry the floor with the cloth. I move my chair away from the wet place. We wait until the floor is dry. Then I put the chair back. The books are on their shelf, and our room is clean.
3. Lunch in the Kitchen
We go to the kitchen for lunch. My brother puts the sandwiches on two plates. One plate is white. The other plate is green. I put a cup beside each plate. I also put two apples on the table.
My brother makes some soup. The soup is hot, so we wait before eating it. I pour cold water into our cups. The window is closed, but we can still hear the rain. It makes a soft sound on the glass.
We sit at the kitchen table. I take a small bite of my sandwich. My brother eats his sandwich too. The kitchen is warm. We talk about a game we can play. We do not need to go outside to play it.
After lunch, we wash the plates and cups. I use warm water to wash them. My brother dries them with a clean towel. The towel for the plates is not the wet floor cloth. We put everything back in its place.
4. A Short Walk
We play a card game at the clean table. My brother puts four cards in front of me. He has four cards too. We take turns. Sometimes I win, and sometimes he wins. Our empty cups are safely in the kitchen.
After the game, I look out of the window. The rain is stopping. There is a little blue sky between the clouds. I open the door and look at the path. It is still wet. My blue shoes are still wet too.
I have another pair of shoes in the cupboard. This pair is dry. My brother has dry shoes too. We put them on for a short walk. Our coats are dry now. We take the coats because the air outside is cold.
We walk slowly along the path near our home. We do not go to the park today. There is a small bird beside a wet tree. We stop and watch it. Then we go back inside and close the door behind us.
